How to Choose a Digital Camera!

As with computers, there are new cameras on the market everyday, all offering new and different features.  So how do we choose?  First thing is to decide is what you want in a camera.  Do you need your camera to be waterproof and shockproof? If not, mabe you just want more zoom.  Here are 3 digital cameras, each offering different features.  One of the three should be able to fit your digital camera needs.

1-Olympus Stylus 1030 SW – I love this camera and actually own one. With it being Waterproof, Shockproof, Fogproof, Dustproof and Crushproof, I don’t worry so much about taking it anywhere.  Before I got the 1030SW, I ruined one digital camera by dropping it in water and another one my husband dropped on the ground. We lost all the pictures on both cameras, never to get back again. On top of all the durability features, the  Olympus Stylus 1030 SW also takes great pictures and video with it’s 10MP and 3.6x optical wide angle zoom.

2-The Panason Lumix DMC ZS3 10MP is another great digital camera.  It is about the same size as the Olympus Stylus 1030 SW, but the features are different.  Instead of having the durability features, it has  12x MEGA Optical Image-Stablilized Zoom and 25mm Ultra-Wide-Angle Lens, which allows you to zoom in further and get clearer pictures.

3-The Olympus SP-590 UZ is for someone who really needs a powerful zoom. This camera is designed more like your typical SLR camera with the bigger body which is needed for the Ultra Zoom – 26x Wide-Angle Optical Dual Image Stabilized Zoom.  As I have found out with binoculars, when you have a high magnification or high powered lens, it is very difficult to get a shake-free  focus without a tripod. With the Image Stabilization Zoom on this camera, you can get a clear focused picture holding the camera in your hands. This camera also comes with a Burst Rate of up to 10 shots per second, for those action moments that you never know when the perfect shot will be.  This camera is light weight, easy to hold onto and with the powerful zoom, you can get those close up photos even if you are sitting in the nose bleed section at your favorite sporting event.

These are all  very good and affordable cameras. It really comes down to what your personal preferences are. Do you need the durability and compact feel of the Olympus Stylus 1030 SW, or do you want to be able to zoom in further and still have the compact feel with the Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS3 10MP? Maybe you need the Ultra Zoom you get with the  Olympus SP-590 UZ!
